Autism Spectrum Disorder: Signs and Symptoms

Autism spectrum disorder has a wide range of signs on each person, but there are two classifications of autism spectrum disorder based upon the number of impairments, and the impact on the person's ability to function. There's high-functioning and low-functioning, but like I said, autism spectrum disorder affects everyone differently. By age 2, signs are usually visible and are demonstrated through a slow development. Each child with autism spectrum disorder is likely to have a unique pattern of behavior and level of severity, but some common signs are poor eye contact, lack of facial expression, delayed speech, resistance to cuddling and holding. Some behavioral signs are performing repetitive movements, performing activities that could cause self-harm, such as biting or head-banging, developing specific routines and becomes disturbed at the slightest change.
